NCEA Level 3 Art - Design

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr J. Manuel.

Students investigate the work of many different artists to learn and understand the ideas and skills required to produce works in a similar style.

We experiment with artwork in a general course in preparation for the following disciplines; Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Photography or Design. Skills in Photography can also be applied to any of these disciplines. Freehand or computer drawing skills are required to plan the artwork. After consultation with the teacher students plan a course of study based on 3-5 different designers/design styles to plan and produce finished works in their selected discipline for the External Portfolio.

Recommended Prior Learning

*If students have not taken Art previously but are interested in picking up Art, we encourage them to apply for an exemption and to speak with Mr. Manuel.
