NCEA Level 2 English for Academic Purposes

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mrs S. Waite.

Ko tāku reo tāku ohooho, ko tāku reo tāku māpihi mauria

My language is my awakening, my language is the window to my soul

This course is designed for students for whom English is an additional language.  It offers Level 2 English Achievement Standards, which will enable students to gain the skills necessary for further academic study.  Whanaungatanga, Manaakitanga and Kaitiakitanga are crucial for ESOL students and we take care to build a relationship with our students where they feel respected and cared for in our classrooms so that they are able to learn in a safe environment.

It is a two-year course, with students needing to take 13EAP in the second year to allow students to gain UE Literacy.

This course is not selectable. Students will be placed in this course by the HOD based on their needs.

Disclaimer

Rosmini College's timetable is student-driven and a new timetable is generated each year based on student subject selection. Unfortunately, while we do our best to avoid them, timetabling clashes may still occur and a few students may be required to choose an alternative subject option.

The 2024 timetable, including the number of classes in each subject and staffing allocations, is created based on student selections made in 2023. Because of this, changing subjects at the beginning of 2024 may not be possible. Please, make your subject choices carefully.
