NCEA Level 2 French
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr �. Elgoyhen.
Students work with Education Perfect and departmental resources covering the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. These skills are practised using the vocabulary and grammar prescribed for Year 12 French.
Year 12 students will be working at Level 7 of the National Curriculum covered by the following functions:
Communicate about future plans; Give and respond to advice, warnings, and suggestions; Express and respond to approval and disapproval, agreement and disagreement; Give and respond to information and opinions, giving reasons; Read about and recount actual or imagined events in the past.
These functions will be taught within the context of the following topics:
Youth issues; Travel; Immigration; Employment; French-speaking countries.
Recommended Prior Learning
The French course at this level builds on the foundations laid in Year 10 and 11. It is a prerequisite for students to have completed the French Level 1 course and have obtained 16 credits for the subject if they want to complete Level 2 Achievement Standards in French.
Exceptions to this are made for suitably qualified students, with approval from the HOD.
