Course Description
Teacher in Charge:
This course allows the student to engage in the activity of Product Design. The student develops an individual product for a specific need, within a given context and issue, for a specific stakeholder. The context and issue may vary from year to year. The student has the opportunity to utilise a wide range of technological resources and facilities in the design and manufacture of their product.
Assessment credits relate to the design, planning, prototyping, manufacture and final evaluation as fit for purpose of their product. Achievement Standard credits are gained via a comprehensive design portfolio, which involves academic rigour, critical thinking, analysis and evaluation, as well as manufacturing a quality product.
Recommended Prior Learning
It is an advantage that students have completed Technology and/or Graphics in years 9 and 10. They should be able to manage their time effectively and be creative critical thinkers with an interest in product design and manufacturing.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
Students will be charged for project materials- Approximately $50.
